課程概述

以案例討論的方式，探討我國及各國政府面對重大傳染病的決策過程、結果及影響。著重於未知新病原(SARS)、世界性大流行(2009流感, COVID-19)、經濟與健康衝突 (禽流感、甲魚霍亂)、民眾行為(韓國MERS,登革熱)以及政治社會層面的影響與衝擊(HIV, 西非伊波拉出血熱,南美茲卡)等。
This interactive case study course provides students a very unique opportunity to retrospectively examine the art and science behind governmental decision- making in face of major infectious disease outbreaks. Studied cases include unknown pathogen (SARS), pandemics (2009 H1N1, COVID-19), conflicts between economic and health (avian influenza, cholera), citizens behaviors (MERS, dengue), the influences by and the impacts on sociopolitical aspects (HIV, Ebola, Zika). 

課程目標
 使學生瞭解傳染病所涉及的健康與政經社會等多層面議題，以及各國政府研擬防疫政策所面對的急迫性與不確定性；從案例中學習將理論應用於實務，培養學生看待公共衛生議題的高度、深度與世界觀。
Enable students to understand complex and multi-dimension issues involved in infectious diseases, as well as time constraints and uncertainties confronted by governments in formulating policies against epidemics. This course trains students on in-depth systemic thinking and global perspective when applying public health theory into practice.
